Emergency Delivery Of Baby Girl In Southern Utah

The cab of a pickup truck stopped along State Route 59 between Hurricane and Hildale played maternity ward Tuesday, and a Washington County deputy is being heralded for his role as make-shift obstetrician.

At 5:43pm Tuesday, St George Emergency Dispatch received a call of a woman about to give birth.  The caller advised they were pulled off along-side SR-59 where they would wait for emergency personnel.

A Washington County Deputy arrived with just enough time to assist with the delivery. The deputy’s dash cam picked up audio of the officer telling the mother she had just delivered a baby girl.

EMTs weren’t far behind to take over and transport mother and child to the hospital.
