Tuesday is Safer Internet Day and the launch of the statewide initiative,“Be Awesome Online.” The campaign has the goal of helping children and parents be safe on the internet.
“We are very excited, the Be Awesome Online project is a statewide initiative to help families and provide them with the resources and the information that they need to help their kids and themselves to really know what to do online,” said Sharilee Griffiths, the director of My Discovery Destination, a program focused on helping families spend more time together.
Griffith’s program is launching the state initiative, Be Awesome Online.
The initiative has six areas of focus, being secure, aware, smart, kind, brave and safe. Griffiths said there will be a celebration with the governor on Feb. 18 and activities are planned throughout the next few months.
“Online resources and daily challenges will be provided for throughout the rest of February and through March. In April, we’re going to have some family workshops in the communities throughout Utah,” Griffiths said.
Griffiths said she is excited to see what Utah families will gain from the Be Awesome Online initiative.
