Utah County Attorney to Challenge State Attorney General

Utah County Attorney David Leavitt has announced he will run for state attorney general following a year in his job with the county.

The Republican announced in a Facebook video on Friday that he will challenge the state's Republican Attorney General Sean Reyes. Leavitt says in his campaign announcement video that he has made strides toward reforming what he calls a broken criminal justice system and wants a job that would put himself in a position to do more. The announcement comes the same day Reyes said he plans to seek reelection as state attorney general. He has had the job since 2013.
