State Plan To Begin Addressing Health, Economic Recovery Released

State of Utah

A plan drafted by public and private leaders on addressing both health and economic reovery in Utah in response to the coronavirus pandemic was released on Wednesday afternoon.

A digital press conference featuring Gov. Gary Herber, Senate President Stuart Adams, Speaker of the House Brad Wilson and other community leaders was live-streamed Tuesday afternoon. Presentors participated remotely through Zoom.

The plan, which can be read online, identifies three phases urgent, stable and reocery. Herbert said he anticipates it will take the state two to three months at least to move through the phases. He said he would love for things to be fine by Easter, like President Donald Trump suggested was possible, but he isn't sure that is practical. Adams and Wilson said they believe if Utahns strictly adheare to social health guidelines, that could help end move recovery along more quickly.

The goal of the plan is to "provide Utah businesses and residents with clarity and specifics about Utah's plan health and economic recovery." It states that to be successful, all Utahns must rigorously follow public health guidelines, stay engaged in the economy, and help those in need.

As the situation with the pandemic evolves, the plan will continue to be updated.
