On Monday, The Food and Drug administration granted its approval for administering the Prizer COVID-19 vaccine to children and teens as young as 12 years old. On Wednesday, a CDC advisory committee is expected to issue final guidance on how to effectively administer the vaccine, according to KUTV.The Utah Department of Health said vaccine providers are advised to wait for final CDC guidance from the agency’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. Assuming the vaccine is approved, Utah providers could begin administering Pfizer doses to people 12 and older as soon as they’re able, depending on providers’ appointment availability.
According to UDOH, CDC’s approval would make about 215,000 Utah children and teens eligible to get vaccinated against the virus.
