Out of 10 candidates, the governing body of the Utah Republican Party has selected three finalists in the race to become Utah’s next state treasurer. The finalist’s names — Tawnee McCay, Marlo Oaks and Seth Sunderland — will now be sent to Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, who will appoint one of them to fill the position vacated by David Damschen.According to KUTV, Damschen stepped down to become president and CEO of the Utah Housing Corporation. His term expires in 2024.
McCay is a current member of the Riverton City Council. She has a Master of Business Administration from Utah State University and she’s a former campaign treasurer for Rep. Mia Love.
Oaks is an investment banker and he currently serves on the foundation investment committee at Utah Valley University. He has degrees from Brigham Young University and UCLA.
Sunderland is a University of Utah finance instructor and investor and is also a licensed certified public accountant. He’s earned a master’s degree in global finance from New York University.
