COVID Cases, Deaths Continue Rising In Utah
The number of COVID-19 cases surged back above 1,000 Wednesday, which is more than six times higher than one month ago when there were only 161 new cases. In addition, the rolling seven-day average is now 907, the highest since mid-February.According to the Utah Department of Health, there were eight more deaths on Wednesday. Four of the deaths were people aged 44 and below, including one person between the ages of 14 and 24.
There were 388 hospitalizations reported Wednesday, which is seven fewer than Tuesday. Of those currently in the hospital, 166 are in intensive care.
The delta variant has become the most identified in Utah, although only tiny fractions of cases are classified by variant. Only two percent of Utah’’s COVID cases have been classified by variant, 8,744 out of 436,487.
