Utahns Struggle With Prescription Medication Price Inflation

Utahns are beginning to struggle in obtaining prescription medications as prices continue to rise across the country.

The growing unaffordability of prescription medication is leading some to make the dangerous decision to not refill their medication. The latest RX Price Watch Report says that the cost of prescription drugs is not only rising, but is doing so at twice the rate of inflation.

One Utah couple said they struggle to afford Nuplazid, a drug which reduces hallucinations in people being treated for Parkinson’s Disease. One supply of 30 capsules can cost nearly $4,200.

The couple say they may make the challenging decision to stop using the drug instead of refilling the prescription, since they cannot afford it any longer without insurance or help from a foundation they have contacted for assistance.
