City of Orem faces criticism for post about Trump's new social media platform

The City of Orem has faced backlash for a Facebook post that appeared to promote former President Donald Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social. The post asked readers if they planned to make an account.

After being banned from Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, Trump started Truth Social to try to maintain a social media presence.

Several people believed that the City of Orem displayed partisan bias in posting about Trump’s site. Commenters on the post expressed doubts regarding the platform’s security and legitimacy. The city responded to negative comments by saying they were not attempting to promote one side over another, merely polling residents to find out what platforms they use.
