Math the Japanese Way: A Hands-On Workshop for Kids

Math the Japanese Way: A Hands-On Workshop for Kids

The Logan library hosts Math the Japanese Way: A Hands-On Workshop for Kids on Thursday, February 5 from 3:30pm–4:30pm

Discover a new way to think about math. Join Dr. Satoshi Kusaka, an associate professor from Japan and editor of Japanese elementary math textbooks, for an engaging, hands-on math workshop designed especially for elementary-aged students.

Children will explore math through problem-solving, discussion, and interactive activities inspired by Japanese classroom practices. This workshop focuses on deep thinking, sharing ideas, and exploring multiple ways to solve a problem, rather than memorizing formulas. It is a great fit for curious kids, homeschoolers, and families interested in Japanese culture or creative approaches to learning.

No advanced math skills are required. Just bring curiosity and a willingness to think out loud.
