Utah Public Radio is hiring a part-time digital/administrative intern. This position will report to the staff assistant/web manager.
Responsibilities include: Developing digital media strategy with the web manager, updating static content on UPR.org, editing radio content for web, processing donations, assisting with event preparation, posting events to UPR and other community calendars, mailing thank you notes and gifts to UPR members, and assisting with other development and digital tasks as needed.
Who should apply: Anyone interested in public radio, digital media, fundraising, journalism, and/or nonprofits. Strong writing and editing skills are essential, as well as organizational and planning skills. Familiarity with podcast platforms and CMS like Wordpress, Blogspot, and/or Wix is a plus. Graphic design experience is a plus.
Approximately 10 hours/week. Schedule is flexible, but most tasks will need to be done during 8-5 Monday-Friday.
Spanish News General Assignment Reporter
This reporter will work with Utah Public Radio news director and news team to report on local, state and regional issues such as state and city government, USU research and events, education, health, environment, arts and culture, and work to develop a beat in these or other areas.
Duties include scheduling and conducting audio interviews in person and online or telephone, digital editing, script writing, voicing, social media, attending weekly news meetings and generating story ideas. Experience in journalism and communication, writing, reporting, and digital editing on audio platforms such as Adobe Audition is preferred however, training will be provided on reporting from the ground up. Must be able to meet weekly deadlines and ability to work well with others. Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
