UPR Art Mug Contest

The 2024 contest is here.

To all of the many creative and artistic UPR listeners, we want YOU to participate in the Annual UPR Art Mug Contest!

Please submit your best Utah or radio-themed artwork to for a chance to have your design printed on the 2024 mug.

Submissions are due Thursday, February 15, 2024

Then, check back so you can vote on your favorite designs. The top design will be printed on the 2024 mug, which will be available during our Spring Member Drive in March.

About the Competition

What does Utah Public Radio mean to you? What do you see when you listen on your radio, in your car, on your phone or online? Your design should be an interpretation or appreciation of UPR, its programming and/or the station's home in Utah.

All styles of artwork from cartoon to watercolor to photography and beyond are welcome.

We would love to see you incorporate the year (2024), UPR, Utah Public Radio, or other relevant text into your design. You can even incorporate our logo!

Design Specifications

We will work to accommodate and crop designs of a variety of sizes, however, the ideal design conforms to the following specifications:

The printing space is 8 and 3/4 inches wide by 3 and 7/8 inches high. The image should be in full color and able to wrap around an 11 oz. white ceramic coffee mug almost from handle to handle.

How to Submit 

To submit your design, email it to

All submissions should be sent in as a high-resolution digital file. For physical artwork, this means creating a high-quality scan or photograph of the work and sending it as an email attachment to

Please include your name and the title of the design in the email. Including a brief artist’s statement is also welcome, though not required.

How to Vote 

YOU will decide the winner! Shortly after submissions close, we will launch the voting portion of the contest. Voting will begin in mid-February, so check back then for details about how to vote, and for a link to access the voting page.

The design with the most votes by the end of the voting period will be declared the winner and that design will be printed on UPR’s 2024 mug, which will be available during our Spring Member Drive in March.

Additional Housekeeping Details 

  • This contest is free to enter.
  • Utah Public Radio retains all rights to use any artwork submitted to the contest for mug printing and use, and for marketing purposes related to the contest.
  • The logos for UPR and USU will be added to the mug before printing, unless your design already appropriately includes them. Care will be taken to preserve the overall look and composition of the design.
