Rainstorms bring welcome moisture to Utah

Northern Utah may receive more than two inches of precipitation this week. A series of storms moving from Arizona up through the state has already brought rain to areas in Central Utah.

Despite recent rain, parts of Utah are still in conditions of “exceptional” drought. Fall rain can help replenish groundwater and enables future snowpack runoff to replenish reservoirs. After a dry summer, this week’s storms have helped restore soil moisture this year to near-average levels.
