Utah Snowfall Slows Traffic, Closes Schools

Heavy snowfall across much of Utah created hazardous driving conditions that slowed the Wednesday morning commute as school districts canceled classes and others delayed openings.

The University of Utah in Salt Lake City closed its campus Wednesday but said its health care system and hospitals remained open.

School districts canceling classes due to snow included Jordan, Canyons, Park City and Tooele County. Salt Lake City schools delaying openings.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Salt Lake City and other areas through 6 p.m. and said additional snow accumulations of up to 6 inches (15 centimeters) was expected on valley floors.
