One Dies in Mohave Plane Crash

Mohave county sheriff’s search and rescue units responded to a plane crash late Thursday morning, approximately 40 miles southwest of Kingman in which one person died.

Mohave county 911 dispatch received a call from a teenage boy calling from his cell phone from the site of a plane crash.  The young male said the single engine plane crashed with his father, mother and himself onboard.   

Search and rescue units, deputies, and department of public safety responded by ground and by air.   The crash site was located east of Burro Creek Crossing, near Wikieup, Ariz., west of us highway 93. Medical helicopters also responded to the scene.  

The adult female passenger did not survive the crash.  An adult male was airlifted to a medical facility in Las Vegas, Nev.  

The 13-year-old boy who called in the emergency was airlifted to a medical facility in Phoenix.

The FAA and NTSB will be conducting an investigation.
