Former U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffetz says he will not run for Utah governor next year.

The former Republican congressman made the announcement Monday, noting he gave "serious consideration" to launching a 2020 campaign.

Chaffetz says he might run for office again sometime in the future, but now he has a different job with Fox News and "working to elect Republicans around the country."

He became a contributor for Fox News after leaving the U.S. House in 2017.

Chaffetz was replaced by Republican U.S. Rep. John Curtis.

The only Republican gubernatorial candidate so far is Utah Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, who launched his campaign last month.
