2018 UPR Art Mug Contest!

This year our theme is "Moments You Remember."

A big thanks to all of you across the state of Utah who submitted to the Annual UPR Art Mug Contest! As submissions are now closed it’s time for you to VOTE for your favorite design! This year we are focusing on "moments you remember" as we celebrate UPR's 65 years on the air, and YOU will decide who the art contest winner will be.

The winning design will be printed on our UPR thank you mug, available starting March 22nd during our Spring Pledge Drive. We're keeping with our new tradition and this year there won’t just be one winner – the next top 11 designs will be included in our UPR 2019 calendar, available during our Fall 2018 Pledge Drive.

Voting will be open until Friday, February 23rd, at noon. That’s just three days, so don’t wait, vote now!

2018 marks 65 years of broadcasting since Utah Public Radio began in 1953. The theme for our Spring Pledge Drive will mark this milestone as we focus on the station’s awesome history as Utah’s oldest non-commercial educational radio service. The stories and voices you hear on UPR are ones that you remember, and this spring we’d like to pay homage to our history and recall the journey we’ve been on together.

A lot of you have been with us for many years and decades, perhaps since the very beginning. Or maybe you have just recently tuned in and are still discovering all of the programming UPR offers. UPR has changed and grown a lot, but we’ve always had you, our listeners and members, there with us. Old or new we want to hear your history with Utah Public Radio. We want to see the moments you remember, portrayed through art!

The interpretation is up to you and so is the medium – you can submit photography, drawings, paintings, graphic designs, collages, or whatever inspires you. We are just excited to hear from you!

We will be accepting submissions until Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2018, and then everyone gets to VOTE online for your favorite design. The winner will get their design printed onto UPR’s thank you mug for our Spring 2018 Pledge Drive. And the top 12 winners will be featured on a UPR 2019 calendar available during our Fall 2018 Pledge Drive.

To submit just send in one (or several) high-quality images of your art designs to katie.swain@usu.edu. Please include your name and city in the email, and if you’d like to also include a brief statement about the piece, we’d love to read it.
