Calling All Artists!
Utah Public Radio is now accepting submissions for its annual Art Mug Contest!
This year we’d like to focus on the inclusive community of public radio. UPR is one of the nation’s most extensive station and translator networks across the state of Utah and into surrounding states. With six full power stations, 30 translator stations, and live streaming online, UPR is heard from the snowy peaks of Utah’s northern mountains all the way down to the red rock treasures in Southern Utah.
We have heard from many of you that you tune in from your houses, computers, and cars and we are proud to be a home for your listening ears. As you well know, the airwaves of UPR are a place you can go for extensive news coverage, thoughtful discussions, riveting entertainment, and even your local weather. And when you tune in to UPR you know you aren’t alone. When you hit that button or turn that dial to us, you join in with tens of thousands of other people, all listening for those same sounds. UPR is home to so many people, so this year we want to see how UPR is home to YOU.
This could be an artistic depiction of where you listen to UPR, or where you live. Maybe you’d like to illustrate a particular story or program that really speaks to you and makes you feel welcome and at home. You could even make an abstract design about how you feel when you listen to UPR. The interpretation is up to you and so is the medium – you can submit photography, drawings, paintings, graphic designs, collages, or whatever inspires you. We are just excited to hear from you!
We will be accepting submissions until Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2017 and then we will have everyone VOTE online for your favorite design. The winner will get their design printed onto UPR’s thank you mug for our Spring 2017 Pledge Drive. And the top 12 winners will be featured on a UPR 2018 calendar available during our Fall 2017 Pledge Drive.
So get your creative juices flowing during your down time this holiday season and send in one (or several) high quality images of your art designs to upr@usu.edu.
Please include your name and city in the email, and if you’d like to also include a brief statement about the piece, we’d love to read it!
