Operation Underground Railroad

A recent Operation Underground Railroad rescue missionin Haiti saved 29 girls suspected to be sex trafficking victims.

The operatives also arrested 9 traffickers. Alongside Haitian officials and Haiti’s Minor Protection Brigade, the Utah organization spent two months undercover planning the rescue mission by researching the location, meeting with traffickers and setting up the operation.

CEO Tim Ballard says the mission was one of the organization’s most successful operations.

According to the group’s website, sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise worldwide. 90% of victims are female.

Operation Underground Railroad has rescued 643 victims and arrested more than 270 traffickers since it was founded in 2013. The organization works with international law enforcement and local partners to ensure victims can return to their parents where possible, or where not, are treated in vetted care facilities.
