Northern Utah Still Blanketed In Smoke Despite Storms

Aug 19, 2021

Despite heavy storms, Northern Utah is still blanketed in smoke from fires in Northern California.

It was expected the smoke would be blown away by strong winds, but that is not the case. The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City made a statement on Twitter saying, “Surprised that it’s smoky while raining and windy at the same? Us too!”

The National Weather Service predicts there will be some relief from the smoke-filled skies come Thursday afternoon, but the amount of relief is uncertain.

As of 10:30 on Wednesday morning, Salt Lake City was ranked as having the worst overall air quality in the U.S, and the sixth worst in the world.
