Snow tire supply chains may cause problems for winter drivers

With snow already falling in parts of Utah, drivers are starting to frequent tire shops to purchase winter tires. Snow tires have greater traction than standard tires and enable drivers to stop without sliding on icy roads. Due to supply chain issues, availability of snow tires may be limited this year.

Worker shortages as well as transportation and shipping issues have resulted in limited supplies. As a consequence, tire shops have had to increase prices just to maintain their operations. While tires will be available throughout the winter, these factors may cause delays for drivers who wait until later in the season to purchase snow tires.
