Small class sizes, an aviation program, and easy access to Utah’s National Parks are a few of the things that attract students to Southern Utah University. These are also some of the characteristics of the school that will be highlighted in a new TV series called “The College Tour.”

The series highlights universities across the United States and SUU is the first Utah school to be featured. Nikki Koontz is assistant vice president of marketing communications at SUU and said the series is a great way to reach out to new students.

“We can be amongst these other top-ranking universities and we have just as much to offer to students who would find their place here at SUU,” Koontz said.

Alex Boylan is the show’s host and producer. He said the show was inspired by his niece who wanted to go to college but had no way of visiting every institution she was interested in.

“There is nothing out there that is formatted in a professional television way that tells you the story of the university and told through an authentic lens, so we created it,” Boylan said.

Boylan said this series was the most impactful project he’s ever been a part of and hopes it encourages future students.

“If you are 18 years old and you have the ability to go to college, go,” he said.

Utah State University and the University of Utah will soon join SUU with featured episodes. Grace Graham, a student on the USU episode, said she enjoyed sharing her story with her peers and future Aggies.

“This experience was really really fun,” Graham said. “And you know again, representing Utah State is so much fun for me because Utah State has done so much for me.”

Emma Feuz is a senior at Utah State University majoring in broadcast journalism with minors in sociology and political science. She grew up in Evanston, Wyoming where, just like Utah State, the sagebrush also grows. Emma found her love of writing at an early age and slowly discovered her interest in all things audio and visual throughout her years in school. She is excited to put those passions to use at UPR. When school isn't taking up her time, Emma loves longboarding, cheering on the Denver Broncos, and cleaning the sink at Angies.
