Utah Congressman Blake Moore Introduces Afghanistan Accountability Act

In the wake of the Taliban conquering Afghanistan, Utah Congressman Blake Moore is calling for the United States intelligence community to report on the information provided to President Biden from January to August of this year.

Moore introduced the Afghanistan Accountability Act this week. He said he is heartbroken by the stories coming from Afghanistan and is scrambling to help as many US citizens and eligible Afghan families as possible.

Moore said Biden’s decision to evacuate troops from the country by Sept. 11th without a proper exit plan was theatrical and disturbing.

If passed, the bill would also require the Secretary of State to submit a detailed report on whether the Taliban satisfies the criteria to be recognized as a foreign terrorist organization. If they do, several sanctions would be enacted in an effort to protect human rights.
