Cache Valley dairy producers are joining other Utah producers to donate surplus dairy products. This includes Gossner Foods and Creamies Premium Ice Cream Company, who are helping distribute grilled cheese sandwiches and cheese curds in June, during National Dairy Month.
Utah Department of Agriculture and Food Commissioner Logan Wilde said the state is partnering with Dairy West for a “Curds and Kindness” initiative celebrating frontline workers including employees of hospitals and clinics, food banks, and police and fire station across the Wasatch Front beginning Thursday at the Utah Food Bank in south Salt Lake.
Dairy West Senior Vice President Jenny Nelson said Curds and Kindness was created in response to deficiencies in the food supply chain due to COVID-19. Dairy West producers have donated more than 831,000 lbs of product across Utah and Idaho with plans to partner with school sites to feed hungry children later this summer.
