The Kitchen Sisters Are Coming To Logan

This award-winning audio duo are coming to the campus of Utah State University April 4-7. Classes, talks and presentations are made possible by Utah Public Radio and the 2015-2016 Tanner Talks, a presentation of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. 

Who are the Kitchen Sisters?

Davia Nelson & Nikki Silva are producers of the duPont-Columbia Award-winning NPR series Hidden Kitchens, and two Peabody Award-winning NPR series, Lost & Found Sound and The Sonic Memorial Project, with Jay Allison. They are also the producers of The Hidden World of Girls and Hidden Kitchens heard on NPR Morning Edition. The series inspired their first book, Hidden Kitchens: Stories, Recipes, and More from NPR’s The Kitchen Sisters, a New York Times Notable Book of the Year for 2005 and nominated for a James Beard Award for Best Writing on Food. Monday, April 4

  • 9-10 AM Access Utah: UPR's live call-in radio show
  • 7 PM Tanner Talks Presentation at the Caine Performance Hall ***Reserved seating – Tickets required but is free and open to the public. Get your tickets at arts.usu.edu.
  • If you can't make the Tanner Talk, a rebroadcast of Access Utah will start at 7 p.m. featuring interviews with Davia and Nikki.

Tuesday, April 5

  • 8-10 AM Student Lecture: Edith Bowen Laboratory School Auditorium (700 North -- south auditorium entrance) 

Wednesday and Thursday, April 6-7

  • ​8 AM – 5 PM 2-Day Workshop - JCOM 4500 Projects in Communication: Advanced Public Radio Production, Library 204. The workshop is full.
