A $25,000 grant was awarded to the Cache Valley Volunteer Center’s student academic mentoring program by State Farm Insurance on Wednesday in Logan.
Tyson Luthi, a local State Farm agent, presented the award.
“State Farm is honored to present this check for $25,000 dollars to the Cache Valley Volunteer Center,” he said. “This grant helps sponsor the TEAM mentoring program that provides underserved students the skills they need to graduate from high school and prepare themselves for college. We’d like to congratulate the TEAM mentoring students and faculty for a job well done and thank them for all their efforts for what they do in Cache Valley.”
Sharilee Griffiths from the Cache Valley Volunteer Center received the award on behalf of TEAM. Team stands for “Together Everyone Accomplishes More.” Griffiths said the goal of the program is to encourage students to graduate and to prepare for college by establishing life skills through team building, academic tutoring, financial literacy classes, and career readiness.
The Cache Valley Volunteer Center was also awarded another smaller grant of $1,000 from State Farm on Wednesday, which will go toward a safe driving program in Logan.
