Utah’s lone congressional Democrat has faced his Republican challenger on the debate stage as the candidates vie for the closely watched suburban Salt Lake City seat.
U.S. Rep. Ben McAdams on Monday highlighted breaks with his party and framed himself as a moderate. Former NFL player Burgess Owens worked to tie the Congressman to Democratic leaders, officials he has referred to as sociopaths. Owens is a Black conservative and criticized the Black Lives Matter movement. McAdams said there is more progress to be made on race. McAdams' victory was part of 2018's blue wave. Owens is a supporter of President Donald Trump who wants to return House control to Republicans.
