According to a study conducted by business.org — a Utah organization that assists small business owners — Utah has the second-largest gender pay gap in the nation, with men earning 30% more money than women. The only other state with a larger pay gap is Wyoming, which has a 35% gap. There are no states where women have a higher average salary than men, according to the study.
Business.org listed the following reasons for pay disparities: lack of equal access to funding for female-owned businesses, corporate cultures that favor men, unequal hiring practices, Utah culture’s traditional family work structure, the low number of female-owned businesses and lack of legislation protecting women from discrimination.
