Hyrum House Destroyed In Overnight Fire

Firefighters were called to a two-alarm house fire at 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Hyrum. The house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The flames were made worse by 30 to 40 mile-per-hour winds and it took fire crews a total of 45 minutes to put out.

According to fire crews, the family was “extremely lucky to make it out.”

Cache Valley Fire said strong winds pushed the fire inside the house from the outside deck where it started. The fire’s cause is still being investigated.

No injuries were reported from the occupants of the home, but one of the three family members had to escape by crawling out of a basement window. Two dogs remain unaccounted for.

The damage to the house is estimated to be around $450,000.
