Grand County School District Announces Mask Mandate

Elementary students in the Grand County School District will be required to wear masks indoors. This will be the only school district in Utah with a mask mandate.

Thursday is the first day of school and the mask mandate is in effect. It will be reevaluated in 30 days.

According to a report from Deseret News, the Grand County Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday to support the mandate. Commission Chairwoman Mary McGann said that the Commision wants to make sure it is “very clear” that they are behind the mask mandate.

Though the students are required to wear masks, vaccinated staff members have the choice to wear one or not, but the district is encouraging them to wear masks in solidarity with students.
