West Nile Virus Death In Utah

One person in Utah has died from West Nile Virus this year. This comes after the Utah Department of Health reported the highest percentage yet of surveyed mosquitos testing positive for West Nile Virus.

The virus is spread by biting mosquitos and can lead to severe illness or death in humans and other mammals. As of August, West Nile Virus has been detected in Cache Valley. To reduce risk of mosquito bites, use insect repellant, avoid outdoor activities during peak mosquito hours (dusk and dawn), and eliminate standing water in places such as puddles or buckets.
