Muesum & Music - Raven Chacon's Drum Grid
The public is invited for Pulitzer Prize in Music recipient and MacArthur Fellow Raven Chacon’s (Diné) Drum Grid. Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 3:00-4:00 PM on USU’s Logan Campus (performance begins at the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art. Drum Grid is a performance by numerous drummers across a city system. For Chacon’s performance at USU, musicians will be positioned around USU’s Logan campus to orchestrate a call-and-response composition to build community through shared performance. Drum Grid is being performed in conjunction with The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art’s Repainting the I: The Intermountain Intertribal Indian School Murals as both works explore indigenous identity and experience. The Drum Grid experience provides a powerful opportunity to reflect on the art produced at the Intermountain Intertribal Indian School, especially how students maintained a sense of identity and community.
