Ute Ladies' Tresses monitoring - Volunteers sought

Ute Ladies' Tresses monitoring - Volunteers sought

Ute Ladies'-tresses has been listed as a Threatened species under the federal Endangered Species Act, and Bear River Land Conservancy (BRLC) is helping protect the plant by managing Mendon Meadow for ULTs and providing population information to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Our monitoring protocol is simple: We walk in an organized fashion across the 10+ acres where the ULTs grow, and whenever we see an orchid in bloom, we place a bamboo stake to mark its location. Then a GPS point is taken so that we can map the population's size and extent.

Bring water, mosquito repellent, sunscreen and/or protective clothing, and comfortable shoes. The field is pretty dry this year but it's possible we might need to cross a wet spot.

There is no bathroom on site.
