Corporate Underwriting Sales
Position Summary:
Utah Public Radio (UPR), a nonprofit organization, is located in Logan, UT. UPR is a state-wide service of Utah State University in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Development Officer I (Corporate Underwriting Sales) works as part of the development team to promote and sell on-air and digital sponsorship of public radio programming. S/he identifies prospects, delivers customized presentations, and establishes customer relationships to acquire and retain business and meet sales goals. This position reports to the General Manager.
Responsibilities
- Meet monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with businesses, corporations, advertising agencies and underwriters to acquire and maintain underwriting agreements.
- Prepare proposals for all UPR platforms.
- Write copy adhering to UPR guidelines and FCC regulations for non-commercial broadcasters.
- Monitor traffic, production and billing for underwriting agreements.
- Provide customer relations to underwriting clients.
- Represent station at community networking events.
- Participate in fundraising activities as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Utah Public Radio, a service of Utah State University, broadcasts a mix of information, public affairs, and fine arts programming 24 hours a day. Located in Logan, Utah Public Radio is heard by listeners across Utah and in Southern Idaho via a network of six full-power HD-enhanced stations and 30 translators. More than half of Utah's population resides within the station and translator network coverage area.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years' experience in sales and/or the development of comprehensive marketing plans.
- Demonstrated experience and success meeting sales goals.
- Understanding of the marketing process for radio and online platforms.
- Ability to analyze and interpret marketing data.
- Excellent communication skills with experience handling customers and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Sound judgment; organizational, research, and marketing abilities.
- Ability to plan schedules and meet deadlines; attention to detail and exceptional follow-through.
- Computer literate; should be comfortable working in a PC environment.
- Available to work outside of regular working hours on occasion to attend networking and other events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Liberal Arts or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Experience working for and/or with a public broadcasting station.
- Working knowledge of Allegiance traffic software.
