Iron County deputies were summoned to Midvalley Estates, west of Enoch on a domestic disturbance call. Additional calls to Iron County 9-1-1 indicated that the male suspect was outside the home threatening family members and brandishing a firearm.
By the time deputies arrived, the suspect had retreated back inside the residence. According to Sheriff Mark Gower, this is what happened next.
"As they were trying to secure a perimeter, they heard what they thought was a gun shot originating from inside the home. They took cover, and at that point the Iron County Sheriff SWAT team was dispatched."
SWAT team members entered the home to find the suspect dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No others were harmed in the incident, which remains under investigation.
