Water samples show an area of Utah Lake is contaminated with E.coli, adding to the lake's ongoing health concerns stemming from a harmful algal bloom.
The Utah Department of Environmental Quality said on Tuesday that elevated levels of E.coli were found in the Lindon Drain area and Sandy Beach. Representatives from the Utah County Health Department posted "caution" signs in the areas.
The Lindon Drain is north of the Lindon Marina. The marina tested under the limit for recreational water.
The majority of the lake continues to be under an advisory due to the June algal bloom outbreak that was brought on by excess nutrients, an abundance of sunshine and stagnant water.
State water quality regulators have been unable to identify a source of the bacteria, but collection of water samples will continue.
