Masks Still Required In All Salt Lake County Buildings, Even After Statewide Mandate Ends

Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson announced on Tuesday that masks will be required in all county buildings, even after the statewide mask mandate ends on Saturday. According to a report from KUTV, Wilson has expressed concerns about the mask mandate ending because only about one-third of Salt Lake County residents have been vaccinated so far.

A county-wide mask mandate can’t be implemented by just the mayor — the Salt Lake County Council must give its approval. That body is expected to hear from the county’s health director this week and they will move forward from there.

Wilson has continued to encourage residents to continue wearing masks anywhere in public until enough people can be vaccinated.
