Cox And Biden Meet To Discuss Climate Change, Wildfires

More details are being shared about conversations between President Biden, Utah governor Spencer Cox and other western governors to discuss climate change, drought and resources on how to better fight wildfires.Biden’s virtual meeting with the governors included a commitment of more resources to fight wildfires, as well as a pay hike for firefighters. Biden says it’s evident wildfires are “becoming a regular cycle” and he believes “the threat of wildfires this year is as severe as it's ever been.”

Cox says Biden and him agreed they could be doing more to manage lands that are at extreme risk  where Bark Beetle infestations and invasive pinyon and juniper trees are threatening public lands.

Biden says, “wildfires are not a partisan phenomenon,” and Cox agreed.
