According to visitation statistics tracked by the National Park Service, visitors to Utah’s five National Parks returned to pre-pandemic levels by the end of the 2021 summer season. In 2019, the parks had 9.5 million visitors between the five parks. 2020 saw only 5.8 million visitors due to the pandemic. And, in 2021 so far, the parks have seen 9.2 million visitors.
With borders closed due to the pandemic, the 2021 visitors do not include foreign travelers, which usually make up a large percentage of visitors. Usually, foreign travelers take tour buses when visiting the parks and this year, there have been less than 40,000 bus visits compared to about 275,000 in 2019.
