Wednesday COVID-19 update: a child is among 15 new deaths

The Utah Department of Health on Wednesday reported 15 more people have died from COVID-19. One of the deaths was a boy between the ages of 1 - 14, according to the department.

An additional 1,306 people have tested positive for the virus. School-aged children account for 194 of those cases.

Hospitalizations are below 500, but intensive care units across the state are nearly full. Utah has 521 total ICU beds and 506 of them are currently occupied. 200 of those patients have COVID-19.

The total number of positive cases has reached 615,576, while the total number of deaths reported is 3,688. The total number of vaccines administered has reached 4,375,884.
