Ever since it was introduced to Cache Valley, Sweeto Burrito’s unique take on what counts as a burrito has intrigued hungry people.
Along with its more traditional titular Sweeto Burrito, the restaurant’s coveted Buff Chick, for example, is composed of crispy Buffalo chicken, tater tots, cheese, and cilantro ranch all crammed into a neatly folded tortilla.
But as they faced the rising costs and hectic demands of running a restaurant, co-owners Shane Schiele and his wife, Nichelle, decided it was time to close the North Logan spot’s doors.
Lovers of unorthodox burritos, however, will still be able to find their favorites. The couple decided to take their enterprise back to its roots — into a food truck.

“We just made the tough decision to go mobile,” Shane said. “Most of that, in all reality, is just to make it fun, profitable and just exciting again for us as a family.”
Shane, who was with Sweeto Burrito when it all began in 2011 in North Dakota, added that the restaurant’s style of cuisine is well suited for life on the road.
“It’s food-truck food,” he said. “It’s fun, unique, crazy, cool concepts that we put in a tortilla.”
He remembered Sweeto Burrito’s earliest days, when it was founded by Jon Pierre Francia and fed oil-field workers in North Dakota.
Shane — who said he’s now the only one left from the original team — brought that original burrito-churning rig to Cache Valley in 2015, when he and Nichelle were looking to settle down.
In 2017, they set up shop at 1730 N. Main St. in North Logan. The couple eventually sold the store to the larger Sweeto Burrito corporation, which shuttered the location in 2022, only for Shane and Nichelle to once again unlock the doors for customers in 2024.
If they find themselves faced with an ideal location in the right circumstances in the future, Shane said they may once again move into a restaurant.
But for now, Shane said he and Nichelle are excited to do things at their own pace. Living in Franklin County, they’re primarily focused on Idaho, but are hoping to more frequently visit Utah starting next spring.
“We love the reception, we love the customer interaction, we love the smiles that we put on people’s faces every day,” Shane said. “We didn’t get a lot of that in the store. … That’s why going back to the truck, it’s so much more personable.”
