Jubilate Presents "Sine Instrumentali" - An Evening of A Cappella Choral Music
Sine Instrumentali translates from Italian as “without instruments”. Jubilate invites the public to join us for an evening of ‘A Cappella’ (which means ‘in the style of the chapel’, but that’s another bit of trivia) music spanning over 400 years – from 1572 to 2024! You’ll hear music from composers who are long-dead (Tomas Luis de Victoria wrote “O Quam Gloriosum” – ‘Oh how glorious’ in 1572) to the still-living (Scott Larrabee and Harry Heightman are composing and arranging in 2024 – so far, anyway). Prepare to hear the sublime – “Ave Verum Corpus” (Byrd), “If Ye Love Me (Tallis), “Alleluia” (Thompson), as well as the ridiculous “My Bonny Lass She Smelleth” (P.D.Q. Bach), and several in-between (“Lida Rose” from ‘The Music Man’).
Two performances – each at 7PM but at two different venues – Friday May 10 (Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 200 South 700 East, Salt Lake City, 84102) and Saturday May 18 (St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Holladay). We will dress up but attendees can "come as you are!"
