Investigation Into Brigham City Woman's Death Concludes

After more than a year of investigating, the Box Elder County Sheriff has released findings surrounding the death of Brigham City resident Nicole Barlow.

On July 23, 2016 a fisherman spotted a body floating in the Bear River near Corrine. At the time Box Elder County investigators could not determine whether or not foul play had led to the young women's death.

Box Elder County Sheriff Chief Deputy Dale Ward says investigators interviewed several witnesses and traveled to different states to talk with people claiming to have information about her death.

Detectives have also met with Utah State Medical Examiners who have determined 26-year-olds death was an accident and that the immediate cause of death was drowning due to acute morphine and methamphetamine toxicity. Ward says there was no indication of trauma.
