In terms of small cities, Logan is one of the best, according to a recent report by the Milken Institute.
According to Kirk Jensen, Logan Economic Development director, the report took number of factors into consideration including the city’s jobs, wages, tech growth, housing and broadband access.
“We have life science manufacturers, food processing companies, other high-tech operations," said Jensen. "So that is probably one of our strongest attributes when describing our economy is that it is diversified.”
Utah State University contributes to the city’s economy by not only being the top employer in the community, but also by welcoming its largest freshman class to the Logan campus in the fall.
“USU is a prime employer, there's a number of jobs up there," said Jensen. "Fortunately, through Coronavirus in particular, there was there were no layoffs, so USU weathered the storm and that pride provides stability to our region”
Jensen said that the future of Logan looks promising.
“There's a fair degree of interest in inquiries; people considering expansion or relocation into our area. With strong fundamentals and a high quality of life, I see that that continues,” said Jensen.
Other cities in Utah that recognized in the report include Provo, Salt Lake, Ogden, and St. George.
