Logan City officials have asked residents to send in written comments about a dog-friendly park pilot program that is coming to an end after it’s yearlong-trial.

The city’s parks and recreation department has canceled the final public open house scheduled for April 15 where input was to be gathered. Instead, Mayor Holly Daines and the department director, Russ Akina, are taking written comments about Logan’s Dog-Friendly Parks Pilot Program.

The Logan City Council is expected to receive an evaluation and recommendations about the year-long pilot program on April 21. The council is trying to decide whether to continue a program that gives dog owners access to seven city parks where their pets can run without a leash.

The original open house had been scheduled for Wednesday, March 25. That meeting was canceled after the city issued a COVID-19 social distancing policy.
