State Department of Health COVID-19 Updates, Press Conf., Friday, April 3

There are now 1,246 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the state of Utah. Reportedly, 24,248 people have been tested for the virus and there are no new deaths. These numbers were updated at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The demographics for people with the virus are staying similar with almost 900 of the people with coronavirus falling between the ages of 25-64.

It has been confirmed that 106 people in Utah have been hospitalized for the virus, however, this number does not take into account people who have recovered and have now left the hospital.

Gov. Gary Herbert announced in the briefing Friday that Zion National Park is now closed, effectively immediately. He said people who are already there will have the day to pack up and leave. He said state officials are also working to close the boat docks at Lake Powell this weekend.

On Friday Herbert also said Utahns need to fight the urge to vacation in other parts of the state, such as leaving homes on the Wasatch Front to go to vacation homes in Saint George.
