Statewide Essay Contest Looking to Engage Students At All Levels

A statewide essay contest, hosted by The Utah Debate Commission, is underway in conjunction with the upcoming vice presidential debate.

Students at all levels are encouraged to submit a 300-word essay that answers the question: If you could ask the vice-presidential candidate one question, what would you ask and why?

Winning essays will be published in The Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret News, and may be asked to the candidates during the Oct. 7 debate, which will be held in Utah for the first time.

Students can submit their questions at https://debate2020.utah.edu/student-essay-contest/.
