Survey Explores Vaccine Hesitancy, Refusal Among Religious Groups

According to a study from Public Religion Research Institute, three-fourths of U.S. members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints trust their church leaders and two-thirds say vaccinations are a way to love your neighbor but half don't want a COVID-19 vaccine

Religion reporter Jana Reiss wrote about the study for Religion New Service and warned that since only 105 members of the Utah-based faith were included in the survey, there is significant room for error, but said that she still finds the results concerning.

One reason is the survey’s main finding is that half of the Latter-day Saints surveyed are vaccine accepting, while a third is vaccine-hesitant. This means that 17% said they will not receive the vaccine.

In the survey, the largest group of folks found to be hesitant about or opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine was Hispanic Protestants, at 57%.
