Fresh Folk- September 22

Hi, this is Blair Larsen, host of Fresh Folk. On the show this week, I feature the unexpectedly uplifting songs of Spark and Whisper, and the endearing characters in the songs of Dave Potts. I’ll also play tunes from new albums by Bob Andrews, Linda Newlin, and Blue O’Connell, to name just a few. Join me this Saturday at 8pm for Fresh Folk on Utah Public Radio.

There are some great concerts happening around the state, including: Ben Taylor at the State Room on September 24th, Mindy Smith at the State Room on Sept 29th, Aimee Mann at the State Room on Oct 6th and 7th, Beth Orton at the State Room on Oct 13rd, Ian Anderson at Abravanel Hall on Oct 22nd, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals at the Depot on Oct 27th, Rusted Root at the State Room on Oct 30th, Morrissey at Kingsbury Hall on Nov 4th, Martin Sexton at the Depot on Nov 7th, the Infamous Stringdusters at the State Room on Nov 8th, Rachel Yamagata at the State Room on Nov 23rd, and the Punch Brothers at the Depot on Dec 7th. The always fabulous Moab Folk Festival takes place Nov 2-4 with Harry Manx, Cheryl Wheeler, Cosy Sheridan, Willy Porter, Sara Hickman, Suzy Boggus, among others, scheduled to perform. In Logan, Justin Roth plays at Crumb Brothers on October 27th, and the bluegrass band Chicken Dinner Road performs at Legends Billiards on Nov 30th

 

 

Originally from Virginia, Blair has lived in Logan for 20 years. She has earned degrees in Environmental Science, Earth Science Education, and Geology. She has been involved in the folk music community for many years, producing local concerts for nearly 20 years, and hosting Fresh Folk for over a decade. Blair is an avid fan of both science and music, and attempts to indulge both sides of her brain every day. Blair and her husband share their home with 4 exceptional cats.
