Butterflies

We hear a lot these days how people spend too much time with their electronic devices. But for me, as someone who has always loved natural spaces, I’m finding that a screen can actually enhance my time outdoors.

The normal range of the western tiger swallowtail covers much of western North America, from British Columbia to North Dakota in the north to Baja California and New Mexico south. Individuals occasionally turn up in eastern North America, though it is generally replaced by the similar eastern tiger swallowtail.

The orange and black migratory monarch butterfly population has dropped 95% from the 1980s to 2020.
